Thank you to everyone who e-mailed me about how much they enjoyed the first part of the symposium at Cooley Law School entitled "To Bear or Not to Bear: Guns in Educational Institutions.". This is now the second part and I will be posting the final part as part of episode #138 in a week from this release date. The final part is actually the debate and I believe you will find It quite enjoyable no matter whether you're for or against. Remember to mark your calendars for September 23, 24th, and 25th 2011 for the 26th annual Gun Rights Policy Conference which will be held this year at the Hyatt Regency Chicago O'Hare Airport conference center. Second Amendment Foundation has not yet posted registration on their website but please keep checking saf.org for one it is available. In the last episode #136 the speakers were: John Lott, visiting Senior Research Scientist at the University of Maryland College Park and author of More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun Control Laws, Third Edition James Manley, staff attorney with Mountain States Legal Foundation (argued on behalf of the state to challenge the University of Colorado's ban on licensed concealed carry on campus). John Johnson, Co-Director of the Campaign to Keep Guns off Campus and former Director of Iowans for the Prevention of Gun Violence (2000-2006). In this episode the speakers were: Josh Horwitz, Executive Director of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. Steven Dulan, Attorney and Gun Law Professor at Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Dennis Henigan, Vice President for Law & Policy at the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence and Director and Co-founder of its Legal Action Project. Links: |

Friday, February 4, 2011 I attended a symposium at the Thomas M Cooley Law school in Lansing Michigan. It was entitled” To Bear or Not to Bear: Guns In Educational Institutions” and I had permission to record the entire conference which included gun-control advocates and gun rights advocates. This is the first of three podcasts that you will get that will have audio from that day. In this episode you'll get to hear from Prof. John Lott, James Manley, & John Johnson. The event moderator is Prof. Williams Wagner, Professor of Constitutional Law and Ethics. |

As many of you long-time listeners to this podcast know this has been at one time a biweekly podcast, but due to my responsibilities at the Gun Rights Radio Network it is turned into less than reliable. So this being the first episode of 2011 and if you are taking a look at the website you will notice that we have changed the theme and that has more to do with updating some database problems on the back and than it does with the front end. So I just thought why not give the front and a facelift also. Things I will discuss in the show:
Please visit the Gun Rights Radio Network and we would also like you to join us on our discussion forum. You have until January 31, 2011 to get entered into the drawing to win a Winchester 94 30-30 from 1971 with its original box. You can find my new personal audio journal/blog account http://vanderberg.org |

Everyday life and GRRN has been keeping me busy so this happens to be the first podcast I have done since October 1. I talked about the upgrades that were done to GRRN forum and why I did them. Also discussed discussion forums in general and why I would prefer no anti-NRA rhetoric posted. Now because it's been a while since I've done a podcast you'll probably notice that I am just rambling all over the place. To do a podcast properly you really need to prepare your thoughts I had a time and it helps if you take some notes. Staying in practice is also a really good thing. So all things I just said I had done none of them. Hopefully you still get something interesting out of the podcast even with all my bouncing around. Links: |

NOTE: Only place you can find the complete audio of 2010 Chicago Second Amendment Freedom Rally The Second Amendment Freedom Rally 2010 was again in downtown Chicago right across from Mayor Daley's office. Again this year Mayor Daley chose not to be in his office the day of the rally, but we are sure that his staff heard us loud and clear. I spent quite a bit of time to bring you the audio from the rally and some money and I would appreciate your comments about the coverage. So please leave me comments here or send me a direct e-mail from the contact page. I would very much appreciate it. Thank you to my friend Bill Stanczyk for again driving all away to Chicago with me to attend the rally. It definitely helped me from being bored on the two-hour drive each way. In this episode of the gun rights advocates podcast you will hear my thoughts on the Disclose Act and why I feel the NRA did nothing wrong. Also we will discuss the new law that takes effect July 1 in Indiana allowing employees to bring their firearms work and keep them in their locked vehicle. And of course we will discuss the ruling by the Supreme Court on McDonald v. the city of Chicago. Links: Setting The Record Straight On The DISCLOSE Act NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W.
